Suffer 02:57
they knock knock knocked at my door with their innocent arms outstretched said “do you want a world where no one suffers any more?” I said “well that sounds a little far fetched” but they knock knock knock at my door saying “don’t you know the world is on the brink?” and so I stopped and I thought and I thought a little a more and then I said “well this is what I think.” show me a world where no one suffers where everyone’s already had enough if you can show me a world where no one suffers anymore then I will show you a world without love they knock knock knocked at my door and their faces hardened into steel “if you want a world where people suffer perhaps you should see how they feel” they knock knock knocked at my door and they knock knock knocked me down “if you want a world where people suffer There’s plenty of that to go around” show me a world where no one suffers where everyone’s already had enough if you can show me a world where no one suffers anymore then I will show you a world without love they drag drag dragged me inside and beat me till my lungs were fit to burst they said “if you want a world where people suffer Then we believe that you should be the first” They knock knock knocked me out and when I woke there was a note on my chest That said “if you want a world where people suffer Then by all means you can be our guest” I look look looked out my window and I saw them walking down the street and when they knock knock knocked at my neighbour house I called him up and said “pretend that you’re asleep”

on this most peculiar day when the sun is still in mourning for the day it left behind there is no way to remain in the shadow of the awning though you know you’re running blind you can love her all you want but she won’t give you jack she don’t love you back my boy she don’t love you back you can give her all you got but what she wants you lack she don’t love you back my boy she don’t love you back on this most peculiar day when we are all undone with talking for the girls that we have chased there is no way to explain how perhaps she might be different though I can see it in the lines on your face You can love her all you want But she won’t give you jack She don’t love you back my boy She don’t love you back You can give her all you got But what she wants you lack She don’t love you back my boy She don’t love you back How would I know you say How wopuld I know

he held on to her hand till the tips turned white he pulled close for a kiss and her lips took flight he felt the pull of the tidal wave but no one saved him then he held on to her heart and it hurt like hell the very touch of it burned but he could not tell at the roll of the dice if it was fire or ice just give her time she’ll come round every evening he spent phoning friends to talk and whenever it rained he took himself out for a walk and he imagined that every drip was her fingertip on his hair no destination was planned, he just followed his woe through the shining streets where lost lovers sometimes go when he returned to his lonely flat, to find his life exactly where he left it just give her time she’ll come around he didn’t read the paper, did not watch the news not knowing what was going on was something he was getting used to he preferred to be kept outside than be caught and tried for his crimes he just waits on his own, with his shining eyes with a dream in his head and no wish to analyse it he can convince all the hardest truths, that he is not losing her just give her time she’ll come around

I don’t mind if your sun don’t shine every day on me you don’t care if a crazy bear goes without his bee when it’s raining I’ll be there for you you’ll find shelter with me I’m just like family if you’re upset don’t you ever forget I am close at hand I’ll be your friend to the bitter end i’m your biggest fan when it’s raining I’ll be there for you you’ll find shelter with me I’m just like family

about

A Musical Essay on the Reduction of Analysis

The idea behind this project came about because I wanted to stop analysing everything I was writing and see what sort of nonsense was actually in my head. At 2pm on Wednesday the 4th July 2011 I began. Foolishly, I told myself that I was going to write and record an album in 24 hours. I failed.

A rough breakdown of the time I spent is below:

Writing: 4 hours
Recording and mixing: 5 hours
Eating: 4 hours
Sleeping: 6 hours
Swearing and general self abuse: 2 hours
Sitting and staring into space: 3 hours

What I did manage to do was write and record five songs . I am not entirely sure what all of them mean but I’m trying not to think about that. The ideas for the songs were inspired by a letter I had not replied to, some lovely ladies who tried to give me a pamphlet, a small bee and some girls that got away.
